Going to the grocery store, what healthy food should I purchase?
Alicia from Los Angeles, CA
Going to the grocery store can be quite challenging, especially if you go to places like Costco, where tasty samples are at every aisle. My advice - Don't go to the store on an empty stomach! Likely to happen is an estimated bill of $50 actually totals out to $120
***Remember, It's a Lifestyle.***
Every Sunday, I have the same routine of visiting Sprouts, Trader Joe's and Fresh n Easy. Now that I regularly eat fruits and veggies, I've found it's best to purchase only a week worth's in order to retain freshness.
Fruits are essential for your daily intake. Rule of thumb is to consume at least 2 servings of fruit a day and if you're feeling real good...3!! Veggies should be apart of lunch & dinner but make sure something on your plate is always green. However, don't be afraid to throw some veggies in your morning omelette.
Prepare to purchase Protein, Protein, Protein - lean protein that is....
Think about this...would you buy a car from an unknown manufacture? Of course not, I'm sure! Why would you consume an ingredient you can't pronounce nor have a clue what it is? Therefore, if you have to purchase snacks make sure it's minimally processed.
Here's an example of my grocery list:
Chicken Breast
Ground Turkey
Salmon
Tilapia
Sweet Potatoes
Red Potatoes
Spinach
Broccoli
Cabbage
Bell Peppers
Onions
Apples
Strawberries
Bananas
Blackberries
Almonds
Walnuts
Eggs
Steel Cut Oatmeal
Lean Turkey Breakfast Sausage Patties
Today's Tip: Prepare a weekly meal plan, make a grocery list, head to the store prepared and GOOD LUCK!! Fruit, Veggies, Lean Protein & Minimally processed snacks.
Thanks for the grocery list!
