Good Discussion Topic For The Day - Being fat in Japan - a Societal No, No....

In a country where most people are petite and small framed, Japan is experiencing expanding waistlines among their citizens and the health agencies decided to do something to fight against it.

What's your thoughts, Is this taking things too far? In America, it's all about self accountability but the percentage of adults age 20 years and over who are obese is 33.9% (2007-2008) and the percentage of adults age 20 years and over who are overweight (and not obese) is 34.4% (2007-2008). In Tennessee, hospitals were pushing to not employ nurses who smoked because they were poor examples to patients. The question was then asked, what's next? Not hiring overweight nurses.

Think about it… How many times have you looked at your doctor sideways for telling you it would be in your best interest to drop a few pounds for your health? However, the physician relaying the news is a Twinkie away from obesity him or herself???

Mrs.Obama has been getting a lot of backlash for her "Keep America Moving" initiative to fight child obesity because some citizens complain "…we don't need her telling us what to do with our kids." Yet, statistics show 19.6 % of children age 6-11 years are obese (not including overweight).

How do we overcome our bad ways without being extreme yet spreading the concept of Good Health throughout America?
